Wrestlemania 25 Information

Sources close to the WWE state that WrestleMania 25 will take place at Reliant Stadium in Houston, TX on April 5th, 2009. The stadium holds 71,500 for football and will probably be able to hold more for wrestling. Thankfully, Reliant Stadium has a retractable roof, so there are no worries about rain making for a soggy event!

Think it should be held somewhere else? Join in the discussion here..

EDIT: A million people have contacted me about ticket information! Here’s all I know:

Last year, ringside seats cost $750/ea. The rest of the tickets cost $250, $150, $95, $55 and $40, depending on section. Last year, they went on sale on November 3rd. So expect tickets to go on sale around the same time. Rest assured that when we get concrete information, it will be posted here!

Wrestlemania 24 Reserved Parking

I just received an e-mail from the Florida Citrus Bowl regarding parking at Wrestlemania 24. They’re advising people to reserve parking through Click and Park, “the official on-line parking reservation provider for Wrestlemania 24.”

It looks like they’ve got plenty of parking out there, but if you want to park close, it’s probably a good idea to reserve your parking early. As of right now, I can still get passes in Lot H, which is right across the street from the venue. Hope this helps!

STAMFORD, Conn., January 28, 2008 — He was supposed to be injured and out of action for as long as a year, but WWE® Superstar John Cena shocked the wrestling world Sunday night by entering the Royal Rumble Match at No. 30 in front of a sold-out crowd of more than 20,000 fans at Madison Square Garden. John Cena’s Surprise Return!

When John Cena had surgery four months ago to repair his torn pectoral muscle, it was reported that he’d be out of commission for 6-9 months. Recent interviews by Cena confirmed that he was still on that same recovery schedule, and that he would not be fighting at Wrestlemania this year.

But when Cena and WWE received word that he was physically cleared to wrestle, they decided to keep it a secret. The company threw everyone for a loop on Sunday night when they brought back the biggest star in the company as John Cena returned as the 30th man in the Royal Rumble, and ulimately won the event.

It’s anyone’s guess who he’ll go up against in Mania, but my money’s on Triple H!

How the Card for WrestleMania 24 Seems to be Shaping Up

It’s still over three months away, but the writing seems on the wall for some of the matches that we’ll see at WrestleMania 24. They’re going to try and pull out all the stops, and here are some quick match predictions based on the events currently going on in the WWE:

WWE Title Match - Triple H (C) vs Batista
This one has been teased a few times already. The setup is that HHH wins the belt from Orton at the Rumble or possibly No Way Out, and then Batista, now the ex-champ on SmackDown, wins the Rumble to set up the title shot.

World Heavyweight Title Match - Edge (C) vs Undertaker
Right now this one is the most obvious match on the card, as for the next 3 months Edge and Vicki Guerrero make life tough for Taker, stopping him at every turn. Then Taker wins the Elimination Chamber match at No Way Out, forcing the title match.

ECW Title Match - C.M. Punk (C) vs Shelton Benjamin
This could be the best ECW title match they have put out there since the brand started. Punk is solid, and Benjamin still has all the talent in the world, which would make this a very good match. I hope they let this build and give this match at least 10-12 minutes on the show and don’t rush it.

The Great Khali vs Hulk Hogan
Setup on last Monday’s RAW 15th Anniversary, as Hogan saved Hornswoggle from Khali, yet never did what we all know he is going to end up doing to Khali - slamming him. Can’t see this angle going any other way, and Khali’s stock will be that of gimmick jobber to lose to the Hall of Fame Hogan.

Chris Jericho vs JBL
Match set up on Armageddon and on the Tribute to the Troops show, a match that will be better with the promos then it will be in the ring in my opinion. They really should save it for Mania, as JBL’s first match back in over a year and a half should not be a TV match or even at the Rumble or No Way Out. They can really let this build if they want, and they should.

WWE Women’s Title Match - Beth Phoenix (C) vs Candice Michelle
Basic solid women’s title match with Phoenix putting the belt up against the former champ in Michelle who wants revenge for the injury that Phoenix “caused” her that sidelined her.

It’s shaping up to be a great event, so be sure to get your Wrestlemania Tickets now!

Why Hasn’t WrestleMania 24 Sold Out Yet?

sold-out-sign.jpg

The wrestling industry has been buzzing about the amount of tickets still remaining for WrestleMania XXIV in Orlando, Florida. Ticket sales were swift both during the presale and the public on-sale, but they were hoping for a sellout. Right now that doesn’t appear to be the case. So why did the WWE’s biggest event not sell out right away? Well, there are plenty of reasons - But the biggest could be the fact that the WWE is running a huge venue, outside, and with the WWE’s current injury woes (John Cena being by far the biggest) and the creative direction, not selling this thing out on the first day is not a shock.

Nonetheless, they did move 44,000 tickets, which is still pretty huge! And let’s not forget that last year’s show at Ford Field in Detroit didn’t sell out on the first day, yet on the night of the event, the only tickets left were SROs (standing room only). So let’s not panic, there’s five months till the event, a lot can happen, and the company has had great success in the past with making big things happen for this show.

One thing that is a legit concern is the weather. With it being an outdoor venue, if it rains, the show could be the biggest disaster in the history of the WWE. For now, let’s cross our fingers that does not happen!
